A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

A game where you live in a cabin in the woods. Storms will come and it will get rather cold. The fire may prevent you from succumbing to the elements. Keep catching fish and eating, to keep yourself from starving! The storm will cause the generator to fail, cold to build up and hunger to be an issue... Can you deal with it?

I made this game for a game jam as a solo dev. It is my second game jam ever. I hope you like it and let me know what can be improved!

Fishing requires you to go to the river and press E. You can reel fish by holding Right mouse button. You can only hold 4 fishes at a time.

F for Flashlight.

R for Rod (Fishing Rod).

You can only have one item out at a time, so toggle the flashlight off before pulling out the fishing rod.

Install instructions

Linux users should download and go to the properties of the executable, then click 'allow to run as a program'

Windows users should just double-click the file and click 'run anyway' when prompted with a warning. The warning comes because the file is being run from an unknown source. It is a harmless little game, though you can scan it with an antivirus if you like.

Hey man! Sorry for the late response. I downloaded and tested the Linux version.

So far, I like the atmosphere of the game. But there are a few bugs that break the game a bit. For example, I can spam the campfire rock to eat even if I don’t have any fish in my inventory, the lighter doesn’t work, the torch we don’t see the use of it and i don’t know why but the night never come… Moreover, even if we can just stay near the campfire to never be hungry and cold, there is no plenty to do around. (I tried to cross the river several times by climbing the small hill at the start of the stream but I failed. Either by falling into the river or freezing to death. Lol)

…And also… Ah yes! There is also something that I noticed, the generator, even when it is turned on, does not seem to change anything in the cabin. It might be a bug but I don’t have any light coming from the bulb. The rain is very nice and rather well sequenced but sometimes it passes through the roof of the cabin which breaks the immersion.

Well, this is a Game Jam game, so of course these bugs are understandable, but I think it’s good not to overlook these details to create better games next time.

PS: Can you add a pause screen next time? Thanks :3

Thanks for such a wonderfully detailed response! I am glad I got so much info from you.

Yes, the roof leaks, and I had fixed that issue after I discovered it a while back, but I could not update the game at the time as the submissions were already over.

Yes, the lighter doesn't work, I was too late in implementing that.

The generator being off prevents the bulb from being lit, you can turn it on with a single click and then enter the cabin to light the bulb, its purpose was to  turn off the bulb and fridge, making the food inside rot (but I was too late to add the fridge code logic to make it a usable asset in-game, so now it is just a furniture piece).

Ah, yeah I realized too late that I left the campfire rock with an area collision that lets you eat infinitely.

I will definitely add a pause screen next time! But this game, I will leave as is, so that it can serve as an example of an original Game jam game, with all its bugs and issues, for the future. Looking back at my progress is always good. Thank you so much for playing my game, friend!

Yay! Waiting to see how the next games will be. :D

(Sorry if it’s late. I was ill)
